This hybrid Yew cultivar is a cross between Japanese Yews (Taxus cuspidata) and English Yews (Taxus baccata). It is a dense, low, spreading shrub and is an excellent basic foundation plant for hedging, screening and borders. They tolerate heavy pruning and shearing. Pruning should be done in early spring before new growth appears. Dense Yews are easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. They also tolerate shade and are considered to be excellent evergreens for shady conditions. Dense Yews prefer moist, sandy loams, but plants have no tolerance for wet conditions which must be avoided. Good soil drainage is essential. Please note that all parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested.
